Code Formatting in Blog Postings

Certain things really, really bug me.  One of them is proper formatting of source code in my blog entries.  I use the lovely Copy Source As HTML plugin for Visual Studio.  However, even with a margin: 0px; style, I was still getting a lot of vertical spacing in my code posts.  I agonized over this for days.  It really bugs me when something you think should work doesn't.  I finally ended up using margin: -8px 0px; and that seemed to solve my problems. But...

I use FeedDemon as my aggregator/reader.  I subscribed to my own blog to see how the source code looks through the aggregator, and of course, it looks horrible, with a lot of vertical spacing.  I JUST CAN'T WIN.  So if you are one of my faithful readers who uses an aggregator, I apologize.  In my defense, the code looks immaculate when viewed in the browser.

If any of you use other aggregators I would love comments on how the code looks for you.

Not sure what you're trying to do. The aggregator doesn't care what the source code *looks* like. Just you do, I guess.<br /><br />While I have you, the "active" feed works as expected only it duplicates the title in the content area. Can you grab the text of the message for content instead?<br /><br />I'm using Sage (a Firefox extension) for an aggregator. It looks fine other than having the two titles.

Google Reader has the double spacing but otherwise looks OK, but Bloglines has double spacing and loses the syntax colouring. Both are perfectly readable though so don't worry about it!

Now I know what you're trying to do. lol. I can't speak for Sage rendering since I haven't seen your code in it.<br /><br />As for the "Active" RSS feed on mnp: It's not working right. The article list didn't update from the first time I dl'd it. The time stamp did change (all articles are stamped with the download time). Not useable in this state. But thanks for trying.

I usually copy to work and then I copy to the editor.<br /><br />One thing to note, though, is that with the move to the new blog, the code formatting is totally messed up in my aggerator, RSS Bandit.<br /><br />The lines are vertically on top of each other.
